What I thought it would be like VS how it actually was

Coming into Vietnam, I thought my internship would be overwhelming and my host company would expect too much of me – that was how it was. Instead, it was something else.

The journey was overwhelming but in a good way. Instead of thinking I’ll get run over – it was lively, busy, and energetic. I thought I was in New York!

Instead of it being challenging, it was a learning experience for me. I was invested in the culture, learning about the lifestyle and the history of Vietnam. It was a humbling experience, and I do not think I will ever take things for granted.

Instead of my host company’s high expectations, they were kind and allowed me to be creative with my work. I learnt new skills and tried new things I never thought I would use. What more can I ask? They were a kind company whose purpose was to help people be better leaders and communicators in their businesses.

Although my company, the places I have been to, and the people have met say that I have helped them, I think it was the other way around. I gained so much, more than what I gave. Not often do I receive more than I give, so this is an experience I will never forget. It will be memories I will look back on and remember how blessed to have learnt all these things.

Thank you, Vietnam. You will always be in my heart. Don’t worry I will come back soon.
