I was very excited to leave New Zealand as I had a lot of things to look forward to. In the first few weeks of arriving, I had gone to Wales for a wedding, Wolverhampton for a football match, up Ben Nevis the tallest mountain in the UK, and down to Cornwall to compete at the British surf lifesaving championships.
I was very fortunate to meet some amazing people along the way and discovered what it’s like driving in the UK which consists of a lot of miles and traffic jams. In terms of jet lag, when I first arrived I managed to stay awake until about 5 pm then slept it all off which was ideal. Coping with the 11-hour time difference was a struggle though.
