As of me writing this, my courses for the term at UVic have ended with only my final assignments to go until I am officially finished for the term, making it weird to think about how in a little over two weeks I’ll be leaving Canada to head back to New Zealand, leaving behind the friends I have made that will continue at UVic, but I have quite a few memories with them including over the past 2 weeks.
A few weeks ago, it was another of my friends’ birthdays here, and to celebrate we threw him a small party on our floor with cake, snacks and a piñata before a small group of us went out to a nice sushi restaurant called ENe that I recommend anyone visiting Victoria go to.
This weekend just past was also pretty uneventful but I managed to get to a cafe I had been meaning to visit for a few weeks called Saltchuck Pies, which sells NZ-style meat pies and NZ snacks, letting me introduce some of my friends to a classic kiwi food and giving me a taste of home right before my exchange comes to an end, making it another recommendation I have to anyone going to UVic on exchange and craving some NZ snacks. The same day we went to Saltchuck a small Christmas party was held for our floor. It was a very relaxed night as we listened to Christmas music and decorated gingerbread houses.
With my time at UVic coming to an end soon, I plan to use my last days free of work to explore Victoria more and make some more memories before I go home.
