Sports in Missoula, Montana

by Christiaan Cumming

Missoula has been treating me well, even as the snow melts away in this unusually warm winter. I’ve enjoyed a variety of winter activities, from snowboarding at Snowbowl to ice skating at the uni rink, and even cross-country skiing at Lolo Pass.

I’ve also found unexpected enjoyment in hurling, a fast-paced Irish sport introduced to me by my Irish mates. Joining the hurling team has been a thrilling experience, and I’m excited that we’ll be competing in the nationals in a few weeks.

The university’s sports scene has been another highlight. Attending Grizzlies’ ice hockey and basketball games has been particularly exciting. The atmosphere is electrifying, especially during basketball games, with thrilling gameplay and captivating halftime performances.

In addition to the fun, my classes are going well. They’re challenging, but I’m learning a lot, especially in my Biomechanics class whose professor is hilarious. Overall, Missoula offers a great mix of adventure, sports, and academic growth, making it a memorable experience.
