By Rumbi Mapurisa
Hi, my name is Rumbi and I’m currently a final-year Communications student, majoring in Creative Media and minoring in Public Relations. I chose to go on exchange to broaden my academic and cultural horizons, enhancing my understanding of how media and communication shape diverse societies. I believe that immersing myself in a different cultural and educational environment will deepen my perspective on global communication practices. This exchange represents a unique opportunity to step out of my comfort zone, build adaptability, and bring fresh ideas back to my studies and future career.
I selected the University of Wollongong for its strong reputation in media and communications, as well as its commitment to innovative learning. Wollongong’s emphasis on hands-on experience and real-world applications aligns with my goals to develop practical skills that complement my current theoretical knowledge. Through this exchange, I hope to gain a well-rounded, intercultural perspective on the media’s role in social impact and inclusivity. I look forward to developing my creative skills in a new environment, building global connections, and enhancing my ability to contribute meaningfully to diverse and inclusive narratives in the field of communications.
