My name is Izac and I am a second-year student at the University of Waikato studying Accounting and Finance. I chose to go on exchange because I want to experience a different environment and step away from my usual routine in New Zealand. Going overseas feels like the right way to build independence, learn through real experience, and grow in a way that is not possible by staying in one place.

I chose Japan because I am in the process of buying an abandoned house and wanted to be able to inspect properties in person while also spending time in the country. Being based there will allow me to understand local areas properly, speak with people face to face, and make more informed decisions. From this exchange I hope to gain confidence living abroad, build new connections, and come back with both personal growth and practical knowledge that will help me long term.
