Teaching in Denmark

Meet the teaching students going on exchange to Denmark in 2026!

Sharmayne Novis

My name is Sharmayne Novis. I grew up and attended school in Waikato and am fortunate to be a 51-year-old wife and mother of two young adults. I live in Port Charles on the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula and enjoy the outdoors immensely.

I have been lucky to travel extensively across New Zealand, as well as visit Australia and Rarotonga. I love exploring new places and hope to see more of the world one day.

Sarah Cane

Kia ora! My name is Sarah Cane. I’m currently studying towards my Bachelor of Primary Teaching at Waikato University, and I couldn’t be more excited about my journey to becoming a teacher. I’ve always loved working with children, and I feel incredibly passionate about creating fun, supportive, and inclusive learning environments for my students.

I’m a huge fan of travel, too! I love exploring new places, both around New Zealand and overseas, and learning about different cultures and communities.

John Hughes

I was born in the UK but have lived in New Zealand since I was very young, and it has truly become home. I love being outdoors, and hiking is one of my favourite ways to explore the beautiful landscapes around me. When I’m not out on a trail, I enjoy playing video games as a way to relax and unwind. Creativity is a big part of who I am, and outside of teaching, I channel that passion into jewellery design, where I love bringing unique pieces to life. Most importantly, my friends and family mean the world to me—I cherish the time I spend with them, whether it’s sharing adventures, laughter, or simply enjoying good company.
