My name is Samuel Daley. I am a first, going into second year Bachelor of Arts student studying History and Creative Writing. The idea to go on exchange came about as a result of making a friend from my destination university, Lancaster University. A friend and I chose to travel here, among other reasons, to have the opportunity to explore Europe while we study as we have both wanted to travel here for years. For me, this is born from my love of history, and England is one of the most historically dense locations in the world; of course, this was a no-brainer for me.
I chose Lancaster specifically for its central location in the United Kingdom, as it’s on the border of England and Scotland, as well as being on the west coast – only a short ferry trip from Ireland. Among other things, I hope to get to visit the museums, castles, and other history-rich locations dotted all around the UK, from the Museum of Natural History to Buckingham Palace, I would love to get the opportunity to at least see these places with my own eyes. Of course, experiencing the UK culture and making (as well as meeting!) some friends on the other side of the world would be amazing too!
