Excited for a new chapter

by Tiernan Sanders

I arrived in Maastricht and was blessed with plenty of rain on the first day (the sun eventually came out). But I settled into the city very well, made sure to get my bike and also had to freshen up my skills as I haven’t ridden one in years. But all in all, I have enjoyed my first few days here.

I felt good about leaving New Zealand, I have been in Hamilton my whole life and think the urge to live somewhere else has been building up over the years. Obviously, over the next coming weeks and months, I will probably realise all the things that I don’t have here that I do have back home. But as of now, I am excited to start a new chapter of my life in another country with a different culture and lifestyle.

As of now, I haven’t experienced homesickness, but I feel I will definitely experience it while I am here. But I am keeping contact with friends and family, updating them on what I have been up to and vice versa which I think is going to play a big role in much homesickness I have whilst I am here.
