Sports in Stirling

Hi, my name is Rhys Trask, and in 2026, I’m going into my 2nd year of university, majoring in human performance science and sport development and coaching. I chose to go on an exchange because I love travelling and saw this as an opportunity to discover new places, cultures, meet new people and build meaningful connections. Studying and living in a different country allows me to go outside my comfort zone and find a better sense of independence. I think that this exchange will help me grow my understanding of the world as well as my personal and academic growth.

I chose the University of Stirling in Scotland because the United Kingdom is significant to my family heritage, as my taida or tide (grandad in Welsh) was born in Cefn-mawr, which is in North Wales. I chose Scotland because when I went to the UK on holiday, we went to Scotland for a day trip, and ever since, I’ve always wanted to go back. The history Scotland has, as well as their sport, really drew me to this University. The town of Stirling is quaint but full of history and is between Glasgow and Edinburgh, allowing for great ways to explore the bigger cities. I hope to get more future opportunities by going on an exchange. I am hoping this experience will help me develop skills like confidence, independence, and adaptability. This could also help me decide what career I want to pursue in the future.
