Hey, my name is Estrella, and I’m about to spend the final semester of my LLB at the University of Alicante in Spain!

Going on exchange has been something I’ve wanted to do since the beginning of my degree, so I’m really excited that it’s finally happening. Alicante stood out to me for its blend of Spanish culture, history, and Mediterranean setting. Studying there will also give me the chance to experience a legal system that differs from New Zealand’s and consider how that perspective might shape the way I approach law in the future.

I am hoping to grow more confident speaking Spanish, settle into the everyday rhythm of a new city, and meet people whose paths might never have crossed mine otherwise – the kind of encounters that only happen when you show up somewhere new and stay long enough for the unfamiliar to become familiar.

For now, I’m looking forward to arriving and seeing how the experience unfolds!
