By Luke Gallacher
My name is Luke Gallacher, and I am a first-year student at the University of Waikato studying a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Professional Accounting.
I decided to go on exchange because I wanted to experience what it is like to live and study in another country. I have always wanted to spend more time in Scotland, especially because my dad was from Scotland and I have extended family over there. Going on exchange gives me the chance to experience living in Scotland while also being able to spend more time with my family.
I chose the University of Glasgow because it gives me the opportunity to live in a new environment and experience university life in Scotland. I am really looking forward to experiencing Scottish culture, meeting new people and seeing what university is like on the other side of the world.
While I am on exchange, I hope to become more independent and confident, meet people from different backgrounds and experience things that I would not normally get the chance to do in New Zealand. I am also looking forward to travelling around Scotland and Europe, making new friends and creating some good memories along the way. Overall, I am really excited for the experience and to make the most of my time in Glasgow.
