Hi everyone! My name is Jasmyn, and I’m going into my third year of a Bachelor of Social Science, majoring in psychology. I chose to go on an exchange because the U.K. — and overseas travel in general — is how my parents met. They began their story as flatmates before realising how well they got along, and after their travels, they moved back to New Zealand and had my sister and me. When they share their stories of exploring Europe in the back of a VW camper, even 20 years later their eyes still light up, and it’s something I’ve always desperately wanted to experience.
I chose Cardiff because of the city’s student vibe. Not only are there multiple universities in the city, but it’s less intimidating than ultra-packed London while still being central enough to explore on the weekends. I hope to push myself outside of my comfort zone on this exchange by having the freedom to do whatever I please, without the limitations of knowing people around me. Although it’s cliché, I want to find myself and learn to explore the world on my own. I’m so excited for this journey!
