I chose to go on exchange because I wanted to challenge myself by stepping outside of what is familiar. This exchange programme feels like an opportunity to grow not only academically, but personally.
I chose Japan because it is a place I have always felt drawn to. I am interested in learning more about Japanese culture, language, and everyday life beyond what you can experience as a tourist. Japan also has a personal connection for me, as part of my family has lived there before, so going there feels meaningful as well as exciting. I wanted to choose a destination that would push me out of my comfort zone while also giving me the chance to connect with a culture I genuinely admire.
While on exchange, I hope to gain confidence, independence, and a deeper understanding of the world. I want to improve my ability to adapt to new environments, meet people from different backgrounds, and experience education from another perspective. I also hope to come back with stronger communication skills, more cultural awareness, and memories that will stay with me long after the semester ends. Most of all, I hope exchange helps me grow into a more open, capable, and curious version of myself.
