Amelie in Australia

By Amelie Harsant-Brown

Hey, my name is Amelie. I’m currently in my second year of my Bachelor of Social Science degree, majoring in psychology. This will be my first time going abroad, which I’m super excited about. For my exchange, I will be heading across the pond to the University of Wollongong, Australia, a beautiful coastal city an hour away from Sydney. My reasons for choosing Wollongong are that it’s a vibrant city that offers many different outdoorsy activities like hiking, cycling, and swimming. It’s great for someone like me who enjoys adventures. Wollongong also has really great public transport, and Sydney is only a train away. The university itself is also ranked as one of the top modern universities in the world.

I chose to go on this exchange because I believe it would be a great opportunity for me for my first overseas experience, and this is the time I should be seizing every opportunity that is available to me. It is also a chance for me to go outside my comfort zone by having to adapt to a whole new environment. What I hope to get out of it are valuable and unforgettable experiences and the ability to meet new people and experience a different culture from my own in order to expand my knowledge and understanding.
